Central Jakarta Holds Virtual Baca Jakarta Socialization for Children

Central Jakarta Library and Archives Sub-agency Acting Head, Wahyu Prabowo, launched the socialization of a virtual Baca Jakarta 2021 (Jakarta Reading), on Friday (5/28).

According to him, his party needed to adapt quickly and respond to challenges to meet residents' information needs.

"Amid the current pandemic, it is hoped it won't limit the space to continue providing positive activities for residents online," he expressed.

He explained the activity was slated to be held for a month, precisely on June 14 to July 13.

"By so, it is capable of building interest in reading into a joint movement, developing a level of fondness for reading in the community starting from the family circle, and building a literacy culture from an early age in children aged 7 to 12 years old," he explained.

It was targeting students who attend school or live in Central Jakarta, such as communities and schools as partners in Baca Jakarta activities.

"As for the reading sources used are through the digital library iJakarta, iPusnas, Let's Read Indonesia, personal book collections and other reading sources," he explained.

He added that those who take part in this activity would receive a certificate. Then the best participants would receive an appreciation of the guidance.

"So, it is expected to give a positive platform for the people of Jakarta to be able to foster a reading habit," he hoped.
